How to use the AVIF to JPG Converter

  1. Add your AVIF images

Drop .avif files on the box, or tap Choose images. Up to 50 at a time.

  2. Set the quality

92% looks identical for most photos. Go higher for print, lower for smaller files.

  3. Download

Save each JPG, download them all as a ZIP, or on a phone save or share them from the share sheet.

Why do I have AVIF files?

More and more websites serve images as AVIF because the files are small and load fast. When you right-click and save a picture, you get a .avif file, and then the app, upload form or printer you wanted to use won’t take it. Converting to JPG fixes that: JPG works in every app, email and online form.

How to convert AVIF to JPG on Windows and Mac

Windows: the Photos app can show AVIF once the free AV1 Video Extension is installed from the Microsoft Store, and Paint can then save a copy as JPG. Mac: open the image in Preview, choose File → Export, and pick JPEG. For more than a couple of files, this page is faster: drop them all in and download one ZIP.

Getting the best JPG

Leave quality at 92% for photos you’ll share or upload. Use 100% for printing or for images you’ll edit again. If an image has text, sharp lines or a transparent background, the AVIF to PNG converter will look cleaner.

Frequently asked questions

Is this AVIF to JPG converter free online?

Yes: free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. It runs right in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Can I convert AVIF to JPG in bulk?

Yes. Drop up to 50 AVIF files at a time and download all the JPGs in one ZIP.

What happens to transparent parts of the image?

JPG can't store transparency, so see-through areas become white. To keep transparency, use the AVIF to PNG converter instead.

Will the JPG look worse than the AVIF?

At the default 92% quality the difference is invisible for almost every photo. The JPG file will usually be several times bigger, because AVIF compresses more efficiently.

It says my browser can't read AVIF. What now?

Update your browser: Chrome has supported AVIF since 2020, Firefox since 2021, Safari since 2022 (macOS 13 or later, iOS 16 or later) and Edge since 2024.
